Hello Jani,

I think you refer to this video http://www.tagtele.com/videos/voir/50542....then it proofs that my original photo is captured during the Jeckeln´s execution. Thanks.

Best regards,
Michal

Well Michal that has answered our questions thank you it is certainly Jeckeln. :)

I wish I understood French to understand what is being said, was it Kiev were the trial was held and not in Riga as often stated?

Thanks again!

Regards.

Sorry, but how does that video prove anything? It is a film of Jeckeln's trial and execution which has been shown on TV before, but it does not prove the photo is as described. Not trying to be awkward, but this film takes us no further than we were to start with!

Has anyone got a link to the famous interviews with Jeckeln's daughter Renate? I think there may be parts in the Jeckeln biography by Bernhard Kiekenap but unfortunately i cant read German. Guess there would be some good info on his trial in there too as discussed above.

Thanks.

Does anyone know who owns the copyright of this image, or is it presumed to be in the public domain?

If it is an official German period picture then I'm pretty sure it is public domain. I seem to recall that was one of the stipulations of the peace agreement(s).

That´s the question which is, IMO, impossible to answer.
Even if he attended an official ceremonial act in the morning in the same uniform how do you exclude that it´s a private photo from a releative and shot a few hours later?

In some cases the pictures have providence associated with them. This thread may help some:

If you can find it in a government archive that may also be taken as proof, unless otherwise noted, that it is in the public domain.

I wonder who is the Leutnant Hans Buchholz, Kommandeur eines SS-Kommandos.
I thought it might have been Dr. Hans Buchholz, born 1 July 1903 Riga, commissioned SS-Ustuf.1 June 1940, but this guy died in 1959.

Anyone familiar with the court details in Russian or German make a more accurate name of the individual?

8.SA-Standartenführer Alexander Boecking (17.12.1897 in München)
Gebietskommissar in Reval-Land (December 1941 - 1944), then Gebietskommissar in district Walka, Wyru and Petschora in Estland

9.SS-Sturmbannführer Georg Sauer (?)
Kommandeur des KZ Kaiserwald

10.Leutnant Hans Buchholz (?)
Kommandeur eines SS-Kommandos

Why the 10 men were not executed together? On the photo are only 8.

Maybe they were not all sentenced to death? What was the sentence of Sauer and Buchholz?

Confirmed executions are only known of this 8 men:
Albrecht Digeon von Monteton
Wolfgang von Ditfurth
Friedrich Jeckeln
Hans Küpper
Bruno Pawel
Siegfried Ruff
Friedrich Werther
Alexander Boecking

On the photo there is only 7 hanged men. Not 8. I believe that there is not Boecking.

or maybe Wolfgang von Ditfurth was not hanged (in some sources he died of a heart attack before the execution)
