Jeckeln execution?
Re: Jeckeln execution?
Hello Jani,
I think you refer to this video http://www.tagtele.com/videos/voir/50542....then it proofs that my original photo is captured during the Jeckeln´s execution. Thanks.
Best regards,
Michal

Re: Jeckeln execution?
Well Michal that has answered our questions thank you it is certainly Jeckeln.
I wish I understood French to understand what is being said, was it Kiev were the trial was held and not in Riga as often stated?
Thanks again!
Regards.

Re: Jeckeln execution?
Sorry, but how does that video prove anything? It is a film of Jeckeln's trial and execution which has been shown on TV before, but it does not prove the photo is as described. Not trying to be awkward, but this film takes us no further than we were to start with!

Re: Jeckeln execution?
Has anyone got a link to the famous interviews with Jeckeln's daughter Renate? I think there may be parts in the Jeckeln biography by Bernhard Kiekenap but unfortunately i cant read German. Guess there would be some good info on his trial in there too as discussed above.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Does anyone know who owns the copyright of this image, or is it presumed to be in the public domain?

Re: Jeckeln execution?
If it is an official German period picture then I'm pretty sure it is public domain. I seem to recall that was one of the stipulations of the peace agreement(s).
Re: Jeckeln execution?
That´s the question which is, IMO, impossible to answer.LWD wrote: If it is an official German period picture then I'm pretty sure it is public domain. [...].
Even if he attended an official ceremonial act in the morning in the same uniform how do you exclude that it´s a private photo from a releative and shot a few hours later?
Re: Jeckeln execution?
In some cases the pictures have providence associated with them. This thread may help some:

If you can find it in a government archive that may also be taken as proof, unless otherwise noted, that it is in the public domain.

Just sent to me by John Curtis a WAF member, I believe its the same occasion
Re: Jeckeln execution?
I wonder who is the Leutnant Hans Buchholz, Kommandeur eines SS-Kommandos.
I thought it might have been Dr. Hans Buchholz, born 1 July 1903 Riga, commissioned SS-Ustuf.1 June 1940, but this guy died in 1959.
Anyone familiar with the court details in Russian or German make a more accurate name of the individual?

Re: Jeckeln execution?
On the photo there is only 7 hanged men. Not 8. I believe that there is not Boecking.

Re: Jeckeln execution?
or maybe Wolfgang von Ditfurth was not hanged (in some sources he died of a heart attack before the execution)
