Hello everyone,
I have found two pics in a book printed in Belgium and I was wondering about the veracity of the information given in the cited book.
You can see a front face picture of a man and then you have the same man but this time the left side of the man's face is photographed.
A note says he was head of a GFP group (Brussels' 530) in 1940. But there are several questions about these pix.
- Did the Germans take these sort of pictures for every of their men ?
- It looks more like a prisoner or captive stereotypical picture. But the problem is this man was killed on duty in 1943 and could not have stood any trials after the war.
Can you shed any lights on this ?
Thank you very much,
Greg

Re: Picture confirmation
Hello,
I stumbled on this side by pure chance and could not believe the discussions and research on my father, Kurt Kohl, who was killed Dec. 29,1943 when I was 2 years old and lived in Rastatt at that time. My mother, Ilse Kohl (nee Schaaf) then went back to her hometown, Neuburg/Donau.
The picture you posted was not my father, I do have photos and some documents. I know little of him - my mother did not volunteer much information and I am fascinated to learn of Greg's book which obviously covered his time i n Lille.
Maybe someone could reply to me - my neighbour and friend also posted a reply yesterday, June 2nd.
Hope to hear from you

Re: Picture confirmation
Hello Karin,
Just before you send me anything, can you confirm me the first name of your grandfather (Kurt Kohl's father), or your birthdate. Or even the city where you were born.
I have had pranks before and just wanted to make sure this was a serious communication.
Talk soon,
Greg
