Homer,
Watch Hitler's Bodyguards on the Military Channel every Friday night from (8:00pm-10:00pm). There is something about Gesche on just about every show.

I know his friendship with Hitler went way back . Himmler did not like him and was constantly trying to get rid of him, but Hitler usually saved him. He was well known for his troubles with alcohol and that is what usually got him into trouble. Himmler finally got rid of him during the war and he was sent to the Russian Front , but after some time Hitler brought him back to his old Post. Late in the war Himmler got rid of him for good and he finished the war in Italy. He survived the war!!

Homer,
This is not post-war info on Gesche, but it is good info!!
Bruno Gesche
-1922- Joined the NSDAP at 17 years old
-He was a natural brawler
-He was cross-eyed and that is why Hitler did not make him his chauffeur
-1927-Left the SA to join the SS
-February 1932- Was 1 of 8 men to form Hitler's Elite Bodyguard Escort
-May 1934- Appointed Commander of Hitler's Elite Bodyguard Escort
-1938- Made to sign a no drinking claus by Himmler
-April 1942- Threatened another SS officer with a pistol during a drinking binge and Himmler relieved him from command and sent him for basic Army training
-Served with a Waffen-SS Panzer Division on the Russian Front and was wounded
-December 1942- Ordered back to Hitler's HQ and Hitler appointed him back to his old position
-December 1944- Demoted once again by Himmler and sent to the 16th SS Division
-Served during their long retreat through Slovenia, Italy, and Hungary
-Survived the war

Marcus,
I am not positive of the correct answer so I don't want to give you wrong info, but I am pretty sure the unit was named in one of the episodes of "Hitler's Boddyguards". As soon as I catch the right episode on again I will send it to you if you do not already have it. Sorry!!!
