I think he was with the Gestapo in Berlin but was not able to find additional info about him.

Franz Prüfer
Referatsleiter and Kriminalobersekretär
He was deputy from Gerhard Stübs
I think he was also with the Gestapo in Berlin but also here no further info was found.


If someone can help me with some more info about these two officers???

suicide 31/10/1942

Thank you very much, now I have at least a bit more. And now I also have the confirmation both where with the Gestapo in Berlin. Do you know where Stübs commited suicide and where Prüfer died???

Hopefully someone else can come up with the SS-numbers from both persons. Also the DoB/place of birth from Stübs is welcome as well as the SS-rank from Prüfer.

Neither are in any of the available (to me) SS-Dienstalterslisten.

Stübs was the head of Gestapo Abteilung IV in Trondheim, and as a Kriminalkommisar head of the Gestapo Judenreferat ("Jewish desk") Referat IV D1 in Berlin, committed suicide prior to imminent arrest for corruption.

Prüfer and 5 other Gestapo from the Judenreferat were arrested end of 1942 on corruption charges, none of the cases ever went to trial. Prüfer died in an allied bombing attack in Berlin.

Franz Prüfer (* 30.11.1893 in Reppen).
Gerhard Stübs (* 17.10.1908 in Natalsitz).

Gerhard Stübs is my grandfather and my father has his birth and death certificates. Would be really interested if anyone could help us with any information about his career in the gestapo and especially about his time in Berlin shortly before his death. On here I see he supposedly committed suicide which isn't what the death certificate and other items from that time state.
Please contact Gerhard Stübs is my grandfather, my father has his documents.
