Hi Fred,
Thanks for the nice info on Molt. I already have around half of it so all the rest was very welcome for sure.
I also have him with SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Ausbildungs- und Ersatz-Bataillon 10 in 1945.
I also read somewhere that on 30-6-1939 he was fired from the SS by Himmler himself but apparently he came back very quickly.
And I also read somewhere that he headed an SS-Junkerschule...
Oh, and one question. When you say: 'Kdr.I./1.Rgt./10.SS-Pz.Div.: [01.07.1944 W-SS DAL]'', I guess you mean the
I. Bataillon from SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 21???
And does someone has the DoD/place of death from Molt???
Regarding Mauer I've him as CO(he succeeded B. Dietsche)from I. Btl. with SS-Fr.-Geb.-Jg.-Rgt. 14 between ?? 44 and ?? 44. In April and May 1945 he commanded SS-Pz.-Gren.-Ausb.- und Ers.-Btl. 16 at the Truppenübungsplatz der Waffen-SS 'Böhmen'.
Kdr.II./Pz.GR.21: 06.1944 I've SS-Stubaf Karl Bastian being CO in 7-44, is that correct???
So regarding SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 21 I've the following Btl. CO's...
I. Btl.
SS-Hstuf Helmut Fromme(7-44).
SS-Stubaf Carl-Günther Molt(7-44/beginning of 45).
II. Btl.
SS-Stubaf Fritz Mauer(6-44/10-44).
SS-Stubaf Karl Bastian(7-44).
SS-Hstuf Wolfgang Siebert(11-44).
SS-Hstuf Dr. Karl Segler(11-44/2-45).
SS-Hstuf Rolf Sack(?? till 21-1-45).
SS-Hstuf Karl Schober(21-1-45/??-45).
III. Btl.
SS-Stubaf Carl-Günther Molt(4-44/7-44).
SS-Stubaf Karl Sattler(10-44).
SS-Stubaf Friedrich Richter(spring 45).
Greetings,
Mike

Re: SS Pz Gren Rgt 21: Stubaf. Molt, Carl Günther; Hstuf. Mauer
It's news to me that Karl Sattler was the CO of III/PGR 21 in October 1944. However, in my files he was promoted to Obersturmbannführer 08 Jan 1940. Was this an Allgemeine-SS rank and he held the rank of Sturmbannführer in Waffen-SS? This seems also logical because the CO of PGR 21 in October 1944 was Sturmbannführer Heinz Laubscheer.

Hello Mike,
I read that too…there in an entry for Molt in the 15.06.1939 Berichtigungsheft zur 01.12.1938 DAL which notes, "von RFSS entl. 30.06.1939." Yet, within the next 4 years he was promoted, finally to SS-Sturmbannführer. That is a story I'd like to hear!Mikedc wrote:I also read somewhere that on 30-6-1939 he (Molt) was fired from the SS by Himmler himself but apparently he came back very quickly.
This is the way the entry for Molt is shown in the 01.07.1944 W-SS DAL (the 01.10.1943 SS-DAL lists Molt as Kdr.I./1.SS-Pz.Gr.Div. -KdG). I understand the 1st Regiment became the 21st Regiment in late 1943, so I don't know why the entry in the 01.07.1944 W-SS DAL:Mikedc wrote:(regarding Molt)…When you say: 'Kdr.I./1.Rgt./10.SS-Pz.Div.: [01.07.1944 W-SS DAL]'', I guess you mean the I. Hello Pena,
About those Btl. CO's, I'm not sure of course if all of this is correct but this is how I read it(don't know where anymore).
And yes, if Sattler was promoted to SS-Ostubaf in 1940 that most likely was his Allgemeine-SS rank and the Stubaf-rank in 1944 was most likely his Waffen-SS rank....
And thanks Fred for confirming the part about Molt being 'entlassen' from the SS by Himmler on 30-6-39, I was pretty certain I've read that somewhere.
And yes, I also believed that SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 1 'Frundsberg' became SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 21 at the end of 43 but I wanted to make sure we're talking about the correct regiment. It seems the DAL's just had another way of writing things down....
Thanks for your posts guys, much appreciated.
