SS-Obersturmbannführer Spengler

#1

Post by anton01 » 25 Jan 2010, 14:25

I`m looking on informations about my grandpa Anton Spengler, born in Krummau (Cesky Krumlov) 1903. Nobody in the family talks about his life. He was an SD member and - so i heard - an SS-Obersturmbannführer. Does anybody has information about him or knows where i can find some informations about him and his work. Thank you all.

Like London busses you wait ages for one then two come along. By coincidence found another reference in a US interrogation of SS-Stubaf Theo Gahrmann, Leiter SD-Abschnitt Linz Jan 1941-Jan 1945.

SS-Ustuf Johann Spengler
Leiter of SD Aussenstelle Krumau. Former member Sudetendeutsche Partei. SD member since 1939. In very poor health [that is, in 1945], subject to loss of memory. Bank clerk. Married. Three or four children. Last seen in Krumau.
Age: 38
Height: 1.79m
Build: Strong:
Hair: Blond
Eyes: Light
Face: Oval
Posture: Slightly stooped
Dialect: Sudetenland

Many thanks for all your help. meanwhile i got some informations from a german archieve. my grandpa worked for the Reichssicherheitshauptamt from 20.4.44. But i don`t know if he worked in Berlin or somewhere else. He got a member of the SS in 1.7.37. This is intersting, because the Sudetenland was connected to Germany one year later. He was a member of the Freikorps Sudetenland and of Lebensborn. I don`t know if it was quite normal that a member of the SS was a member of Lebensborn?! But till now i haven`t any informations where he worked. Nobody in the family talked about, that he worked in Berlin. Perhaps does it mean, that he worked for the Reichssicherheitshauptamt in Krumau?! He was sentenced to hard work after war - i think it was by a court in Darmstadt for a year or so. So if anybody has some furtcher informations, i will looking for and let you know any "new" news.

Lebensborn was an association within the SS (verein). Numerous SS leaders were member of the "association" not of the staff itself.
This data appear in the "Fragebogen" of the personal files of SS members.

In this moment i returned from the Berlin based Bundesarchiv. I found one file for which i need help. Perhaps anybody knows something about it. In the RSH-file about Anton Spengler is said, that he was the chief of the SD-Aussenstelle in Krumau (ok, we know that already), but then there is an "and" and a name follows, i think it`s a village, but it`s too small to read. It could be "Lauterbach" or something like that and after the name there is "III A t (or a +) A. Linz". And there is another column with "extraordinary efforts" (in German Bes.Gr.u.Leist.St.) and in it it`s written "12 b 1.1.43") When you look in the other columns, it`s very similar - like "13 f 1.1.1943" or "8 b 1.1.44" or "7 c 5.9.43". Does anybody knows what this means? It could help me a lot tounravel this mystery.

Thanks a lot anton01
