Re: SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt. 22 Adjutant ?
this one is far more difficult: The last 3 letters could be "der". The first letters could could could bei "Sch", but in this case I am not at all sure. I think in this case one cannot come to a conclusion just by reading the signature. Comparing the signature with some names of choice may narrow down the search at least... Tilman

Re: SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt. 22 Adjutant ?
Siegfried Schrader began his career in the Waffen-SS as a signaler in 1937 at Berlin-Adlershof in the Nachrichtensturmbann and was one of the contributors to my "Signal Officers of the Waffen-SS" publication.
Schrader gained notoriety for his role in saving the lives of a number of prominent French government and military officials towards the end of the war who were being held prisoner in a castle near Wörgl in the Tyrol area of Austria. They included the former President of France, Edouard Daladier, defense minister Paul Reynaud, General Louis Weygand, the former commander-in-chief of the French military, General Gamelin, the chief of the French General Staff, the sister and brother-in-law of Charles de Gaulle, Michel Clemenceau, the son of a former President, the union leader, Leon Jouhaux and the tennis champion, Jean Borotra. The complete story can be found in my book of who he successfully, with US Army support, defended the French internees from a German attack. Below is his picture.

Dear Ruud
Unfortunately I have no exact date in my files when Schrader was wounded …
John mentioned no date in his book about the “Nachrichten Offiziere der Waffen-SS”, too …
Sorry!
Regards yours Roland

Hello John,
Thanks for sharing that piece of information with us, apparently these French people owed their lives to him for a great deal as far as I can make up from your words. Of course I don't know how big his rol was but it's likely that they would have been killed when he was not there to help them.....
Thanks for posting the photo as well and thanks to Polizei51 for confirming his correct full name and for giving us his DoB, place of birth and SS-number...

Interesting. I can see that the source of this file is a NARA roll, however are you aware of who owns this roll? Thanks!

Re: SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt. 22 Adjutant ?
I own the NARA roll with Schrader's Personalakte. I also have a 91-page autobiography that Schrader gave me in 1994. "The Last Battle: When US and German Soldiers Joined Forces" by Stephen Harding is an excellent book about the 1945 action that Schrader took part in.

I am actually doing some research on Kurt-Siegfried Schrader. Would you be willing to help me out with the resources at your disposal?
Thank you
Joe
