Does anyone happen to have any specific knowledge of what SS-Totenkopfstandarte 6 would have actually been doing while they were garrisoned in Prague? I'm sure they had some standard guard duties, and I understand normal barracks duties, but what were they guarding? Were there other SS facilities in Prague at the time I don't know about? Were they simply a 'presence?'

Thanks!

I would like to call the attention of those interested in the history of the pre-war SS-Totenkopfverbände to the announcement of
volume I of Marten van Dijken's study "Die SS-Totenkopfverbände 1933-1939" at http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=217996

This document comes from British National Archives, from a file about WVHA. The small note accompanying the two document states it was written by Michael Lippert after the war when in British custody.

Thank you for showing this interesting find, Steve.
For the greater part, Lippert's statements are correct. (Many) more details are in volume I of my book "Die SS-Totenkopfverbände 1933-1939", covering the 1933 -1937 years of this unit. Volume II (covering the years 1937-1939, including activities of the SS-TV in Austria (1938), Sudetenland (1938) and Bohemia-Moravia (1939) will be available within a few months.
Best wishes,
Marten
