I just could not decypher the name of this SS-Untersturmführer but just the following words "... Aufzeichnung ... mit deutschen Kreuz in Gold". Sütterlin script is so difficult to read ...

Yup, you got it Chris.

B:6.8.21
KIA 27.1.43 2Lt. Chef, 1./SS-Pi.Btl.4
DKiG:19.9.42 Zug.Fuhrer as above
Aslo have one tank destruction badge.

God, I hate Sutterlin. Having trouble reading the 20.4.42 promotion list because it's written in that style. I learnt Copper Plate when I was in primary school but Sutterlin is worst. My 2 cent.

Thanks a lot. I also think he's Günter Butte. The photo does not belong to me that is why I could not show it.

In my opinion there is written:

SS-Stf. Budde
nach der Auszeichnung
der deutschen Kreuz
in Gold.

Bad grammar, because this would be the right sentence:

... nach der Auszeichnung mit dem deutschen Kreuz in Gold.

The photo below was shown some weeks ago on german ebay with the description: "Untersturmführer Budde mit deutschem Kreuz in Gold". (The back of the photo was not shown).

Maybe the same picture.

Greetings,

andernach

Yes, this is the same photo. So, this man is Günter Bütte but the caption is incorrect (name, grammar). Thanks a lot to all of you.

Old thread but I notice that according to you is Butte listed as KIA but the DRK has him as MIA in Ladogasse January 1943
He was born in Breslau and his trade was "Berufsoldat"
