Hello, I am a new member and I am doing research on my grandfather Dr. Ernst Wenzel.
Last year I visited the Bundesarchiv in Berlin and got some informations.
The for me most important questions could not be answered:
Why was he removed from his duties in the "Hauptamt Ordnungspolizei" by Himmler personally in Aug. 1943?
Who knows anything about his suicide in 1945?

According to official document he was retired on the 29.2.44 and he was given a pension effetive from the 1st March 1944 He then took up an industrial post Betriebsarzt der H.Römmler A.G. in Spremburg Niederlausitz. It was quite common for senior police officers to be retired during 1944 preusmably due the the lack of need of so many senior officers

Dear Sir,
thank you for answering. I knew that my grandfather worked as "Betriebsarzt" in Spremberg since 1944. He was also still working as SS-Führer im "SS-Oberabschnitt Elbe/Spree". But I still doubt if his retirement was just a usual administrative act, because he was forced to report personally at the Chef der Ordnungspolizei.

Hi Daniel, if nobody has done so yet, you can check his SS file at Bundesarchiv Berlin. There should be a lot of information in there on him that will help you further... Tilman

It is a good size file of over 120 pages that I find on my roll from the NARA.

thanks for your answers. But I went to the Bundesarchiv already last year and coul read the file and made a lot of copies.
