SS-Untersturmführer signature, 1939 Berlin
Is there any reference material available to determine if a Dr. Visperrer or Dr. Visperren worked for the SS in Berlin in 1939?
Also, what does "I 12" over a dotted line and "PAS 3 500 Dr. V/ZE" represent on the top left-hand corner of Reischsführer letterhead?
Thanks
I have a pic of the signature but am still trying to post it

Nothing shown in the Dec 1938 DAL which has the last full listing of all SS officers

Re: SS-Untersturmführer Signature 1939 Berlin
I sent the signature off to a friend in Germany and he says to check "Viegemer" or "Viegauer"...I did not know this, but very often the third and seventh letter of a German surname is the letter "e". I think it is Viegemer or Viegener.
Cannot figure how to post pics here--happy to email you a scan of the signature.
I'll try to find this directory you referenced, thank you.

How about Günther Vigener, born 02.10.10, Partei-Nr. 952.887, SS-Nr. 48.581, SS-Ustuf. 30.01.1937. Bei der 45. Standarte 1938

That sounds like a likely match. Thanks for the help. May I ask what "Ustuf. 30.01.37" means? Join date? Thanks.

Ustuf. = Untersturmführer 30.01.37 = Date of his rankPopp-Köhler wrote:That sounds like a likely match. Thanks for the help. May I ask what "Ustuf. 30.1.37" means? Join date? Thanks.

Re: SS-Untersturmführer Signature 1939 Berlin
Sorry, Phil, but the 01.12.1938 SS-DAL has bei der 6. Sta. for Vigener (bei der 45. Sta. is the entry immediately below for Wilhelm Goiny) and the 6. Sta. was based in Berlin. The problem is that Vigener became SS-Obersturmführer on January 30, 1939 and is not mentioned as being a Dr. Is the date of the signature from January? Otherwise, Vigener would have already been SS-Obersturmführer.Phil Nix wrote:Bei der 45. Standarte 1938

Re: SS-Untersturmführer Signature 1939 Berlin
Everyone here has been very helpful and a great resource.
If it helps, I can post the signature from the letter sent to my grandmother. The letter I have, which was sourced from the Hoover Institute, and references an "Anfrage vom 15.6.1938" shows Viegener signing off as an SS-Untersturmführer. The memo does not have a date on the header...but on the upper right hand corner of this memo is a rubber stamp date reflecting a date of May 19, 1939.
This may be a filing date, and thus does not reflect Viegener's new rank?

I would guess it's could be Dr. Hans Viegener (born 1910, SS-Nr. 214.336, 30.01.39 SS-Ustuf.).
He also signed Einsatzgruppenberichte Polen 1939...

Re: SS-Untersturmführer signature, 1939 Berlin
I wanted to circle back, after a long absence, to thank everyone who has helped piece together small shards of clues regarding my ancestry. This July will mark the one year anniversary of my mother's passing, and like so many others of her generation, they were not prone to discuss details freely. History must not be forgotten.
