SS-Gruppe "Ost" officer with Daluege & von dem Bach

Who is this Stubaf. (left) with Daluege and Bach-Zelewski? His right collar tab is interesting, as it seems to have "Ost" inscription. Am I right assuming that it was a short-lived experiment since (if I remember correctly) these were not described by Mollo in his thorough work on SS insignia and uniforms?

Hello Mty,

Didn't find much in Angolia's Cloth Insignia of the SS. On page 77 he states that personnel assigned to Oberabschnitte below the rank of Standartenführer usually wore a blank right collar tab, however there were cases where personnel wore the name of the Oberabschnitte as right collar insignia. He also illustrates a aluminum wire version for officers on this page as well. He does not state when this trend was started or ended.

Best,

James

Could it be Kurt Wege and could the man on the right be Hans Harnys Führer XII Abschnitt

Hello Max,

Thank you for your correction, I was going off of what was written in Angolia's book.

I think this riddle is solved. According to the caption of a photo from the very same series at Ullsteinbild, SS-Stubaf. is named Hall. Alfred Hall (Stab Oa. "Ost"), Stubaf. 12.09.1934 matches by rank and posting. The other officer (on the right) seems to be (then) Standartenführer Willy Luckner, head of the Kameradschaftsbund Deutscher Polizeibeamten. Photo taken at 22.08.1935.

Thanks to everyone for their input! :)
