Karl Otto Koch query.

Does anyone have in their files the details of Koch's appointments during 1933 and 1934? I am particularly looking for his appointments as an SS-Sturmführer prior to June 1934 when he was assigned to Hohnstein concentration camp.

Hi Derek,

very briefly translated from the book: Günter Morsch: Von der Sachsenburg nach Sachsenhausen, page. 51:

Koch:

March 1, 1931: joined NSDAP
Sept. 1931: joined SS
From 1932 to death: full time SS
1933: transferred to Kassel to build up auxiliary police unit.
middle of 1933: this auxiliary police unit incorportated into camp guard units, that's how he came in touch with the camps.
Sept. 1933: Order to build up special SS unit in Saxony
May 1934: Koch was Untersturmführer with SS unit in Dresden: meets future wife Ilse Köhler

In the 1934 Dienstaltersliste I find him as a member of the 1st Standarte. According to this he appears to have been made a Sturmführer on April 4, 34.
