Looking for info about two SS-officers called Matzke and Neifeind. They maybe had the rank of SS-Hstuf, SS-Stubaf or SS-Ostubaf and they worked for RSHA around 1942.

Anyone ??

Simon -- This is pretty bare bones info but I have a

Neifeind, Dr. _____ [SS-Sturmbannfuehrer und Regierungsrat] -- chief, Reich Security Main Office Department II A-2 (Administration and Law - Legislation) (on 1 Jan 1941)

who is probably identifiable with

Neifend, Dr. _____ [SS-Obersturmbannfuehrer] – chief, Reich Security Main Office Department III A-5 (SD-Inland Police Law and Constitution) (on 1 Oct 1943); acting chief (as deputy to Dr. Gengenbach), Reich Security Main Office Department III A (Law and Structure) 1944

I don't list Matzke in my RSHA notes, but there is a

Metzke, _____ -- chief, Reich Security Main Office Department IV C-1 (Gestapo - Evaluation and Administration) (on 1 Jan 1941)

Neifeind was killed in action in Slovakia while serving with the Dirlewanger unit and was buried in Vazec (Slovakia):

Nachname: Neifeind

Dienstgrad: Grenadier
Geburtsdatum: 29.09.1908
Geburtsort: Velbert
Todes-/Vermisstendatum: 15.12.1944

Here is a good bio of him on the German wikipedia:

ORR Neifeind: “Neifeind was KdS Paris 1943-1944. He left the city very hurriedly on the approach of the Anglo-American armies, leaving behind secret documents (which, however, were saved later on) and neglecting to give any orders to his subordinates on action to be taken in the event of total evacuation by German forces. Kopkow believes that for this offence Neifeind was condemned to death, but that the sentence was commuted to front-line service with a special unit of the Waffen-SS.”
source: TNA Kew, KV 2/1501, Third Combined Interim Report, IR 52, dated 28 Dec 1945, of Kopkow, Thomsen and Nosske.

A French interrogation of Oberg says much the same.

Matzke died of a lung complaint, possibly tuberculosis (too young to have served in WW1).
