But if von Gottberg, why no awards (e.g. 1914 EK I and 1918 Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz)?

Also, this man wears the Tyr-Rune (denoting completion of a course at the "Reichsführerschule der SA"), but in Schulz & Zinke's first volume (including addenda in the later volumes) there's no reference to v.G. receiving it.

Photo taken in 1933, or first-half of 1934 at the latest (as HH is wearing SS-Ogruf. insignia).
Michal, anyway to enlarge this so we can make out the numbers or other devices on the collar patches? The Stubaf. is probably Fhr. of an SS-Standarte, and if we had a number we could probably identify him.

Hello, Mike, I totally agree with you.
To me - it is "83" and if it is right, this is SS-Stubaf. might be August Jakober as Führer 83. SS-Standarte (Giessen).
Any August Jakober photo might be help to confirm or not this version (unfortunately, I have not his photo).
Best,

Andrey.

I agree as well, it is 83 since a better close up was provided by spottedcow.

Best,
