Is someone knows in which unit was "Derrick" member ?
I got the same question about Günther Grass...

Like the later author of the Derrick series, Herbert Reinecker, Tappert joined the Waffen SS. Initially a member of the SS-Flak-Ersatzabteilung (Arolsen), he was listed as a member of 3rd SS Division Totenkopf in March 1943.[2][3]

To be more exact, the info provided by the WASt

Which seems odd because SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 1 was LSSAH

WIth one 'but', the SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 1 was not a Totenkopf unit but a LSSAH unit if I am correct.

The author of all 281 episodes of Derrick was Herbert Reinecker, who served as an SS-Kriegsberichter. He started writing for nazi magazines in 1935 and was a writer for "Das Schwarze Korps" during the war years. For more details see the link below. This photo shows him (2nd from the right) in June 1944 somewhere in Normandy. Can anyone identify the officers?

WASt didn´t say he was in a Totenkopf Panzergrenadierregiment but that he served with the SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 1 Totenkopf. And this regiment was part of the SS-Panzergrenadier-Division "Totenkopf".

Yes, a SS-Infanterie-Regiment 1 was in Totenkopf in 1941/1942, but NOT in 1943 when Tappert serve there according to the WASt.

"Im Dezember 1942 wurde das Regiment in Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment Thule umbenannt."

BTW, talking about people of post war fame who served in the SS: does anybody know the Allgemeine-SS rank of Rudolf-August Dr. Oetker? He was an SS-Untersturmführer in the Waffen-SS but held a higher rank in the Allgemeine-SS, but some years ago this information was removed from the wiki articles about Oetker.

Also, what was the rank of Mediamarkt founder Otto Beisheim and in which subunit of the Leibstandarte did he serve?
