Looking for info on Wachtmeister in Oslo

#1

Post by Skyderick » 12 Apr 2014, 12:17

Hi guys
I'm new around the forums. I'm looking for information on one Wachtmeister Endrich (first name unknown). He was a member of the 5. Kradschützen-Kompanie and served in Oslo, Norway ca. Jun.41-Mar.45. Served at Grini prison camp some time, then at an armory in the city according to a list by the commander of OrPo Norwegen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Edit:] Thanks for moving the topic. I had a feeling I posted in the wrong section.

Hello

On March 9, 1945 was Wachtmeister Endrich (5 Krad.Kp.) member of the Waffenmeisterei of BdO Norway.
He was with other officers and members of the SS for training there.

best regards
Daniel

"5 Krad.Kp." is an unusual listing for a police unit. At least to me it is. Can you determine from the listing whether Endrich was posted to the BdO or a police battalion?

Hallo Daniel
Thanks for your reply! Were you by chance able to find anything in way of a full name or a date of birth?
I would be grateful if you can point me at any particular records I can search for further info.
Vielen Dank!

Best regards
Rick

Hello Rick
I have unfortunately not be the full name. :(

Hi Joe
The abbreviation "5 Krad-Kp." means "5. Polizei-Kradschützen-Kompanie."
The Polizei-Kradschützen-Kompanie were subject at the beginning of various police battalions in Norway.
In February 1945, were all Polizei-Kradschützen-Kompanien and the SS-Schi.Jg.Btl. 506 united to form a new battalion.
The new Battaillon was now called "SS- u. Pol.Schi.Jg.Btl. 506 (mot)"

regards Daniel

I figured it was a police motorcyle company Daniel, but their units were supposed to be Krad.-Zug, rather than company strength. At least the police tactical manuals describing the constitution of police battalions and regiments indicated this.

Guys, I would really appreciate any advise you can offer on how I can acquire more information about this individual.
I've exhausted all resources I know of at this point.

Kind regards
Rick

Rick, I have found that acquiring information on ordinary rank policemen is a matter of luck, not research. Whereas the is much information on officers over the years, NCOs are simply a forgotten part of the police. You might find mention of a name in postings or listings of transfers. The National Archives has a small listing of police NCOs I believe. You might enlist the aid of a professional researcher to dig there for you. But there is no guarantee for that expense.

Thanks for the advise, Joe. Guess I'm a little short of luck in this case.
Another Wachtmeister I'm looking for is Walter Horny. He served in Grini outside Oslo and was sought by CROWCASS after the war, but ultimately dropped from their listing. Can anyone offer information on this individual?

According to the CROWCASS listing Walter Horny was born in 1920. It's strange that Endrich isn't listed, seeing as he too was wanted by Norway for committing war crimes at Grini. I imagine he would have been around the same age.

Endrich is also on the Unwcc ( list 3) and Crowcass but without first name.
To find more information think a visit in Londen but probably in Norway is needed.

Best Dylan.

Hallo,

From National Archives Oslo;

Arkiv S-1557 Riksadvokaten, Krigsforbryterarkivet
Aktor: S-4F-10647 Riksadvokaten
L0027 Grini saken (cases) I
Grini saken(cases) II

Maybe you can find something in these files.

Best Dylan.
