SS Officer in a Vest
Here is a curious 1934 photo. It shows an SS-Officer in a vest (it looks like a sweater-vest). He still has the brown shirt & tie...but a vest?? He definitely seems to be out of uniform! I've not seen this in other photos, so I thought I'd post it. (Source: NARA)

Great photo of Dietrich. Note the Audi logo on the car door.

Possibly SS-Standartenführer Fred Rogers?

Re: SS Officer in a Vest
Since I have no record of SS-Staf. Fred Rogers, I must assume this is meant to be humor ("it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood"). Actually, it's kind of funny (unfortunately, some of our European friends might not get the joke).ErichS wrote:Possibly SS-Standartenführer Fred Rogers?

He had a children's show in the 60's & 70's (Mr. Rogers), in which everyday, he would change from his suit jacket into a sweater before starting the show and sing "it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood... "

Is that a regulation vest or some kind of after market apparel?

Sorry, never heard of him, even though I'm old enough. Must have been an American thing, like calling it a vest. Over here it's known as a sleeveless pullover or euphemistically known as a "tank top," usually associated with a "Wally."
