In the Waffen-SS DAL for 01.07.1944, the entry for Drexler reads "Kdr.Aufkl.Abt.2.SS-Pz.Div.'DR' " (as I pointed out, John P. Moore's "Führerliste" also has the same thing for 06.1944). So, at some point prior to 01.07.1944, he must have actually been in command of that unit.

Hello,

Wulf said "he got out of the hospital" when he took command. and that "his predecessor was returning from an operation" (antipartisan)
So Drexler had to hand over the following days and then could have been on leave
Wulf was convicted for the hangings of Tulle (9 June 1944) to 10 years in jail as commander of the SS-Pz.AA 2

My source is a copy of Wulf's testimony in Rapport Cabanne
