Hello, does anyone know where the evacuated prisoners were sent when the SS fled the camp? Were the prisoners death marched out of were they sent by rail instead?

According to Daniel Blatman, "The Death Marches. The Final Phase of Nazi Genocide", The Belknap Press of Harvard University Press, Cambridge/Mass and London /UK, 2013, various pages:
There were marches and rail transports. The rail transports went to Flossenbürg, Mittelbau-Dora (several thousand) and Bergen-Belsen. Those on foot marches usually went west, many prisoners dying or being shot en route until overrun by Allied armies from the east and west.
It was a similar picture with the Groß-Rosen subcamps.
Basically they went mainly by rail to a variety of places.

The book is also available in German translation.
