To anyone interested in his experience i recommend the reading of his book "Meine Jugend im Deutschen Reich 1922-1945" edited by Am Wall. It's a fine book with nice pictures, excerpts from letters and documents and in the end the brief presentation of the commanders of his Regiment "Westland".
