SS-Scharführer Bernhard Oertzen
Looking for information regarding Bernhard Oertzen. I have a document regarding him a holder of the Ritterkreuz. Can't find anything out about him. He was awarded the Ritterkreuz during the assault on Aachen. It was the 12. SS-Division.

Sorry to say, I think you got duped by a forgery. Nothing on an SS soldier with that name on the Ritterkreuz list
Closest match is this officer, of the Heer.
Army Honor Roll Clasp
Oertzen von, Arthur, 27.11.1944, Oberstleutnant, Pz.Brig. 103

Thanks. Maybe I wrote it wrong. It states that he is a holder of the Ritterkreuz. Does that mean the same thing? JD

No, looking back, I did state it correctly. When I get a chance I will make a copy and post it. JD

Re: SS-Scharführer Bernhard Oertzen
Dear Sir,
There are plenty of Knight's Cross Holders that never made it into the lists and books. The war situation was so chaotic during the later half of 1944 and all of 1945. Some German high ranking generals like Dietrich,Schoerner, and others went into awarding Knight's Crosses to the most deserving soldiers without waiting for final approval from the highest command chain. A lot off Knight's Cross Holders went unofficially when WWII ended for them. Sincerely,
Edward L. Hsiao

Thanks Edward. I'll get a copy posted when I can. Maybe there is hope. I have a Canadian certification that says its for real and I just didn't find anything. Does anyone have a roster for the SS 12th division? JD
