SS-Ostubaf. Gustav Nosske

#1

Post by Shane A Beaver » 18 Dec 2014, 17:18

Could somebody please help me clarify the career of SS-Ostubaf. Gustav Nosske, as I am getting conflicting reports and data from a variety of sources:

1) I understand that he joined the NSDAP on April 30, 1933, but when did he join the SS? One source claims 1933 and another suggests the late 1930's.
2) When was he head of the Gestapo in Aachen? According to Wikipedia it was 1935, which I think is rubbish! Another source suggests that he succeeded Heinz Seetzen in 1939. However, a more reliable source claims that he was appointed head on January 11, 1941, and officially held the post until September 15, 1943, with Stubaf Hammer deputising for him between June 19, 1941 to February 21, 1942, which is when he was commanding EK12. This seems the most reliable and convincing source.
3) According to one source he succeeded Stubaf Hammer as head of the Gestapo in Allenstein on October 1, 1941, but how could he have done if he was commanding EK12? I know that some SS officers held more than one post at a time, but this seems fanciful?
4) One source claims he was head of the Gestapo in Graz in 1940. Surely this is rubbish too?
5) Several sources claim that he was head of the Gestapo in Frankfurt (Oder?), with Wikipedia suggesting from January 1936 to June 1941. I can go along with him being there in the pre-war years, but not until June 1941.
6) Another reliable source suggests that he succeeded Walther Albath as head of the Gestapo in Dusseldorf on September 15, 1943, and was replaced by Henschke on October 14, 1944. I am confident that this is correct.
7) According to the book "Truppen des Weltanschauungskrieges", he was head of AMT IV.D.5 and D.3 of the RSHA during the course of the war. I'm assuming that this was after October 1944 when he left the Gestapo in Dusseldorf?
8) Wikipedia claims he was acting as Liaison between the RSHA and the Ostministerium from April 1942, but again I think that this is rubbish too!

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Many thanks Georges. I think your information corresponds roughly with mine. I think that:
1) 1935 stellvertr. Leiter Stapo Aachen
2) 1936 - Jan 1941, Leiter Stapostelle "Frankfurt/Oder" (holding that post whilst acting as SIPO liaison in Graz, either 1938 or 1940)
3) Jan 1941 - Feb 1942, officially Leiter Stapostelle "Aachen" (with Walter Hammer deputising for him from June 1941)
4) June 1941 - Feb 1942, Leiter EK12 Ostfront
5) Feb 1942 - Jan 1943, succeeding Weinmann as Leiter Gruppe IV.D RSHA, and replaced by Fritz Rang (Nosske was partially blamed for the escape of Horia Sima from Buchenwald)
6) Apr-Oct 1942 - also Leiter Gruppe IV.D.5 RSHA
7) Oct 1942 - Sept 1943, also Leiter Gruppe IV.D.3 RSHA
8) Sept 1943 - Oct 1944, Leiter Stapostelle "Dusseldorf"
9) possibility of him serving (as enlisted man?) with Totenkopf Division.
