Hello,
No his name was Schiller. He belonged to SD from 1938-1939 (?) to 1944 when he was transfered to 3. SS-Div. (?) with a junior rank as a NCO.
As I remember he was SS-Hstuf. in SD.

Hi Peter,
I see only two officers with this name assigned to the SD:
Hans Schiller
b. 26.05.1914 in Pforzheim.
SS-Ustuf. (SD) 09.11.1941.
Heinrich Schiller
b. 12.01.1903 in Beorbach.
SS-Ustuf. (SD) 01.09.1941.
John Moore's Fuehrerliste has two officers with this surname assigned to the SSTK:
Hans Schiller.
b. 25.03.1912 in Koeln-Rheydt.
SS-Ostuf. 20.04.1943.
Werner Schiller
b. 07.10.1916 in Oldenburg.
SS-Hstuf. 21.06.1944.
Perhaps you should post your source for his name here to see if it 'jogs' someone's memory.
Stuart.

Re: SS-Hstuf. Schiller [SD]
on 1938 there is 3 SS-officers. No one was member of the SD on 1938: Friedrich (2.10.00) was staff 7.SS-Reiterstandarte, Hans (24.03.07) was Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler, Dr. Rudolf (25.09.91) San. Abteilung I.
in the Führerlexikon der Waffen-SS, Hans served with LSSAH the 2 others were not SS listed.
On the other hand
There is Heinz Schiller (09.06.12) who was SS-Uscha. in 1./Aufkl. Abt 3 on 1940 then SS-Ustuf. Art. Rgt. 15 on 1944, but not listed in 1938 as SS-Hstuf.

Re: SS-Hstuf. Schiller [SD]
I met him in Dusseldorf in the begining of the 80is. His final rank in SD 1944 was Hstuf. He was involved in attacing polish border guards at 1.9.39 and later he was fighting resistens in the area where Poland, Germany and Tshechoslowakia meets. At the end of the war 44 (?) they didn´t have any use for him as a SD officer, so he was tranfrered to 3 div with a junior rank. They wrote about him in Der Freiwillige when he was 90 years old.
