Conflicting Death Dates of SS Generals

#1

Post by David Thompson » 22 May 2003, 23:02

With all the new material that's been posted on this section of the forum, I'm trying to update my files. Here are the first 11 examples of some senior SS officers on whom I have conflicting or inconsistent death dates (Albert Forster has already been discussed on another thread). Does anyone have more information (with sources) on when and how they died:

Augsberger, Franz Xaver Josef Maria (10.10.1905-3.1945) [SS-Brigadeführer und Generalmajor der Waffen-SS] – {KIA 17 Mar 1945 near Grottken (Axis Biographical Research, Georges Croisier and Ken McCanliss, Allgemeine-SS and Polizei General Officer Casualty Listing, http://www.geocities.com/orion47.geo/CR ... alties.htm) or on 19 Mar 1945 near Neustadt/ Oberschlesien [Upper Silesia] (Axis Biographical Research, SS und Deutschen Polizei [SS and German Police], http://www.geocities.com/~orion47/SS-PO ... lizei.html).}

Behrends, Dr. jur. Hermann (11.5.1907-1947?) http://www.geocities.com/orion47.geo/CR ... alties.htm) or hanged 1947 (MacLean, Quiet Flows the Rhine p. 141; SS: Roll of Infamy p. 14).}

Bertsch, Dr. Walter (4.1.1900-?) [SS-Brigadeführer] -- {sentenced to life imprisonment 23 Dec 1948 by a special Czech people's court (NYT 24 Dec 1948:4:6); died in Czech captivity (Axis Biographical Research, SS und Deutschen Polizei [SS and German Police], http://www.geocities.com/~orion47/SS-PO ... lizei.html; [in 1945?] Axis Biographical Research, Georges Croisier and Ken McCanliss, Allgemeine-SS and Polizei General Officer Casualty Listing," http://www.geocities.com/orion47.geo/CR ... alties.htm).}

Hello mr Miller,
you wrote: "Rediess, Wilhelm (1900-5.1945) [SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Waffen-SS und Polizei] -- suicide by explosive charge 8-9 May 1945 at Castle Skaugum, Oslo"

That is not correct. Rediess shot himself during the night to the 8.5.45. Terboven had the bedroom locked. Later, actually next night, he ordered the body to be brought down to the small bunker, where the explosive charge was placed.
