In that ebay photo, between Hack and Dorr is Johan Velde, the Germania Reg. Adjutant. He was a Wolhynian resettled in Nordschleswig (Denmark) who won the DKiG and EBS during the war. After the war, he was one of the few former Waffen-SS veterans to rise to the rank of Oberst in the Bundesheer (Oberstleutnant was the usual cut-off). He died during 1995.

Re: SS-Obersturmbannführer Franz Hack
I have most posted from a Russian collector with original prints and negatives along with 8-10 others. A number are from the album of Mahn (GC) with others of award ceremony with Schumacher and other Abt/Kp commanders, etc. The field shot with Hack and Gille posted (Dorr partly hidden) is part of a group I was given but I used others in the group with better clarity (and Dorr and others shown more visible) in volume 7 when I gave it to the publisher. I also used several "known" photos that have the correct exposure (being from originals) and superior quality to previously used examples, allowing me to see who was actually in the image unlike prior low quality examples in other books. Aside from those mentioned, I was given all of Mahn's portraits and award documents, one of 4 complete award sets I have for my 2 "Wiking" volumes. Below Hack and Mahn whose album contained many with a 2nd small one have the balance:

Re: SS-Obersturmbannführer Franz Hack
Have you purchased Vol 7 of Mark Yerger's "Wiking" German Cross in Gold book that was published in 2014 by Bender? There are 6 pages about Franz Hack in that book plus Hack has his photo on the cover

Re: SS-Obersturmbannführer Franz Hack
Hello to all ; although the photo is already here, something more detailed about it ................................
Ritterkreuzträger der SS-Wiking.
The SS-Sturmbannführer Franz Hack, a battalion commander in the SS-Germania Regiment of the SS-Wiking Division was awarded the Knight's Cross for the extraordinary offensive spirit of his battalion, as well as for his own personal bravery during the effort of relieving Kovel in Ukraine, in which his assault teams overwhelmed enemy positions in close combat.
The recommendation of the Hack Knight's Cross read as follows: “During the night attack on April 17, 1944 against Hill 189.5 and the high terrain to the south (1.5 km southwest of Kovel) the SS-Sturmbannführer Hack, commander of the III./SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt. Germania, particularly distinguished himself for his exceptional bravery before the enemy ....... he was injured by splinters of hand grenades on the face and right hand. However, Hack continued the attack without being discouraged by his injuries. The enemy could not resist the attack spirit of the Battalion, with the commander himself fighting on the line of attack. After a short and hard melee battle, the enemy was expelled from their positions on Hill 189.5 and forced to retreat south. In a rapid chase, recognizing its importance for the continuation of the attack, Hack attacked further south along the railroad line on his own initiative, snatching control of one Soviet strong point after another. With the first lights, the Battalion had captured and occupied enemy positions in the overpass 400 meters southwest of Hill 188 ......... Only now, after having organized the defense, Hack allowed to be treated for his wounds. Through his prudent leadership and his personal audacity, he has a decisive participation in the success of this offensive operation, one of great importance for the relief of the "Fortress" Kovel.
