OLBOETER, Erich
(Eberswalde near Berlin, 26.07.1917 - near Hirson/France, 02.09.1944)
- Joined the SS on 09.1934 (SS-No.: 257 547);
- Commisioned as Ustuf. on 12.03.1938;
- In April 1938 he is assigned to the Leibstandarte (together with Frey, Kraas, Maurer, Heinze and Wangelin);
- On 28.08.1939 he is listed in the Stellenbesetzungsliste of the Leibstandarte as Zugführer in the 12.(MG)Kompanie (together with Max Hansen and Werner. Kompanieführer is Hstuf. Garthe);
- On 20.06.1940 it is noted in the Kriegstagebuch of the Leibstandarte that Ostuf. Olboeter (III. Batl.) is to be transferred to the 15.Komp. as a Zugführer instantly (probably to replace Ostuf. Knittel), But on 22.06.1940 this order is changed and Ustuf. Gilles (also III.Batl.) has to go to the 15.Komp. instead;
- Olboeter is awarded the EK 2.kl. on 08.11.1940;
- On both 06.04.1941 and 01.07.1941 he is listed in the Stellenbesetzungsliste of the Leibstandarte as Chef 15.(s.)Kompanie as Ostuf.;
- On 13.07.1941 he replaces Hstuf. Hempel, who is killed in action, as Chef of 13.Kompanie. Hstuf. Hanreich takes over 15.(s)Kompanie;
- He is awarded the EK 1.kl. on 20.07.1941;
- On 02.10.1941 Olboeter is awarded the Infanterie Sturmabzeichen in Silber;
- On 17.10.1941 he is still listed as Chef 13.Kompanie;
- On 26.10.1941 Olboeter is mentioned by Lehmann as being wounded as Chef 2./AA (probably replaced Ostuf. Böttcher who became temporary commander of 2./AA on 16.09.1941 when Ostuf. Späth was KIA). He is replaced as Chef 2./AA by Ostuf. Weiser (adjutant AA LAH);
- 27.11.1941 Lehmann says Olboeter is once more wounded as Chef 2./AA LAH and again replaced by Ostuf. Weiser;
- On 01.03.1943 Olboeter is listed in the Stellenbesetzungsliste of the Leibstandarte Chef of the 5.(s.)Kompanie of the AA LAH as Hstuf.;
- On 22.03.1943 he is awarded the Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber and on 30.03.1943 he receives the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold;
- In mid-1943 Olboeter is transferred to AA HJ and assigned as Kommandeur;
- On 30.10.1943 Hstuf. Olboeter is assigned as Kommandeur of III.(gep.)SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 26 (HJ);
- On 27.07.1944, As Stubaf. And Kommandeur of the III.(gep.)SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 26 (HJ), Erich Olboeter is awarded the Ritterkreuz.
- On 02.09.1944, near the town of Hirson, Olboeters vehicle hits a mine laid by partisans. He lost both his legs and dies in the Charleville military hospital.

I don't know where he is burried as he is not listed in the Volksbund database.

Hope this helps,
Timo
