This is what I've found on Esser, apparently not Abteilung II C but another one. Can't read everything because it's in Norwegian language....

Esser, Wilhelm (Karl Johann Josef) (1908—?).

Hstuf. Wilhelm Esser was a very talented man, if you get my drift, with all the service offices he was in charge of under the BdS in Oslo.

Hello Peter,

Thanks for telling us about the other departments he headed, that's usefull info for sure.

Holidays are going good so far, doing a lot of work in and outside my house that I couldn't do earlier this year and for the rest I just relax a bit before I start working again on January 7th.....
And yes, I also enjoyed the food on Christmas-eve and on the first Christmas-day. Today, the second Christmas-day, I tempered it a bit because otherwise I probably will explode :) :)

Nice Holidays for you and your family as well,
Mike

I was going through this old thread of mine and I've found a certain Hugo Podlech in my files who could be the Podlich I was looking for here, more then the Podlich you came up with.

Here's what I've about Hugo Podlich.
Member SS(nr. 322.115).
SS-Untersturmführer.
He worked at the Staff from the BdS in Krakau.
On 30-1-1943 he got promoted to SS-Obersturmführer.
He was head of the Sicherheitsdienst within Einsatzkommando 1 in Oslo.
He was also the adjudant from H. Fehlis.
Last rank probably SS-Hauptsturmführer.

Greetings,
Mike

SS-Obersturmbannführer Oskar Podlich (*01/06/1908 Striegau) from SD is not the same man as SS-Obersturmführer
Hugo Podlech (*29/11/1906 Ebersbach/Ostpr.) who was an administrative officer attached to KdS Warschau as Pol.Ob.Insp.

Does anyone have any more info on Paul Opitz, that in 1941/42 served in Slovenia, as a head of Sonderkommando?

The information below refers to Paul Opitz; KOA Martin Opitz was at Greeko Zakopane/Poland and I have no information that he served in Slovenia or Yugoslavia.

spring 1942
“Sonderbeauftragter des Chefs der SIPO u.d. SD” fighting partisans in Upper Carniola and Lower Styria (“Sonderbeauftragter des Chefs der Sipo u.d.
SD und Führer eines Gebirgskommandos der Sipo zur Partisanenbekämpfung in Oberkrain und der Steiermark”)
source: US NARA, RG 263, CIA Name File of Paul Opitz
source: Siegfried Grundmann, Der Geheimapparat der KPD im Visier der Gestapo, pp 126-130

July-autumn 1941
Leiter des fliegenden Kommandos des RSHA zur verschärften Grenzüberwachung [no location quoted, but likely to be Slovenia]
autumn 41-1942
Sonderbeauftragter des CdSSD, Führer eines Gebirgskommandos der Sipo zur Partisanbekämpfung in Oberkrain und Untersteiermark
source: BA Ludwigsburg, B162/16671

I would say that some of the above must have come from his SSO, which I have not seen.

I have:

KOA Martin (second name possibly Paul) Opitz who served in GPK Zakopane, born 25.11.1913 Dresden, Heimatdienststelle: Stapo Dresden. Served in Zakopane between 1939 and 1941, also in Krakau and Lemberg.
