Schmelcher was 10.09.1943 - 08.05.1945 Chef der Technischen Nothilfe (durch Erlass des RFSS vom 10.09.1943; source: Die Räder, 15.11.1943)

The bio of Schmelcher is in my book "Statisten in Uniform". A better bio will be in "Die Generale der Waffen-SS und der Polizei" volume 3 by Dr. Dieter Zinke and myself in 2005 or 2006.

To my knowledge no, he was not.
But he was
im Saarländischen Ministerium des Innern, Abt. für Zivilschutz und Zivilverteidigung
(Ministery of the Interior, Saarland, department for civil protection and civil defence)

Dear Dieter

You mean after the war he was working for this "Staatsstelle"? Even he was HSSPF? I am surprised. Do you know from when to when?

But thank you very much for your answer.

Greetings

Yes, I (we) know, but when I tell it here, our book (volume III) becomes superfluous.

Hallo,

thanks for the detailed answers. This is an important piece of information for my researches. Additional question in this context:

>>Polizeipräsident von Metz (décembre 1942-octobre 1943), SSPF Shitomir (mai-septembre 1943)<<

Is it usual and / or conceivable that some senior person held two positions at the same time, even if those positions were geographically as distant as Metz and Shitomir? I assume that "Polizeipräsident von Metz" was an operative role, possibly similar to SSPF elsewhere, and not just a title.

Regards

Stefan
