Re: SS-Oberführer Hans Lingner
Thanks for posting .......Just checked Mark C Yerger's Vol 1 'German Cross in Gold - holders of the SS and Police' he lists the last rank also as SS-Standartenführer - the title of this old thread will need to be changed - KM just referred to his fellow POW by surname and not by rank - so still wondering if he was SS-Standartenführer Hans Lingner or not...so original question still open...

Re: SS-Oberführer Hans Lingner
Hans Lingner was captured on 10 Jan 1945 at Zweibrücken - the report does not say by whom - and these two pages are his CV (Lebenslauf):
Re: SS-Oberführer Hans Lingner
I should also have added he was brought to the UK for interrogation. This appears to be the only one he gave.
Re: SS-Oberführer Hans Lingner
That's great Steve248, thanks for posting. It confirms that he came to the UK. Can you let me the file reference.

Re: SS-Oberführer Hans Lingner
Hello !
Some additional information, regarding SS-Standartenführer Hans Lingner :
(source for the following is mainly the GvB divisional history by Wind/ Günther).
On 29.11.1944 Ostendorff (Kdr. GvB) issued a message to the GvB division, that he had
been ordered to a new task by RFSS [he doesn't say, but it is: becoming Chef HGr. Oberrhein].
I think it seems very logical, that after that date the Ia, Lingner, was a temporary
replacement, before he took over the division "officially" (mit Wirkung vom 8.12.1944).
(which Lingner wrote in another message, dated 7.12.1944)
Before that, the first time I could find Lingner signing an order as Ia GvB is on 12.11.1944.
In addition, there are orders signed by Ostubaf. Linn as Ia, between the dates :
26.8.1944 and 9.11.1944.
This generally confirms the data given by Dieter Zinke in post #2 :
viewtopic.php?p=589402#p589402
And all the dates (besides when he was captured) regarding Lingner's position within
17. SS-GvB division are quite different from the interrogation report, posted above by steve248.
(I don't understand why).
-----------
There is also a very detailed report in that book, regarding the circumstances,
how Lingner was captured (see attached).
I thought it might be interesting to some of the members here, to share that.
Best regards,
