What he did during the War?
Gentlemen,
I forgot about what Franz Riedweg did during World War II. Could you review to me of what he did? Thank you.
Edward

Rest in peace, old comrade!
In April 2004 he kindly replied to my questions I had.
He was not an "old nazi" but a good man.
Edward - in 1938, Riedweg joined the SS-VT. In 1940 he participated in the France campaign as a soldier. From 1940 on, he became the Leiter of the Germanische Leitstelle at the SS-Hauptamt. In 1942, he saw frontline service with "Wiking" and was promoted SS-Ostubaf. 21.06.1943. In January 1944 he was in the Generalkommando of the III. SS-Pz.Korps and in (or from on) July 1944 he was IIa at III. SS-Pz.Korps with SS-Ogruf. Steiner.

I don't quite understand Florian's comment, as clearly he became an Hstuf. after being an Ostuf.!
The last time I met him, over tea at his Munich apartment, he was far more interested in talking to my wife about religion than he was to help me with my many questions about his career in the SS! I was, however, able to raise a smile when I showed him originals of publications he had produced, but which he had forgotten all about. The dream of leaving there with a suitcase of great Germanische SS material came to nothing, but it was a pleasure seeing him again in any case.
