The confirmation is what I was also looking for. If there is no record of his promotion then perhaps it is indeed a mistake in this letter.

Doldi is listed as a Obstubaf. in the 1943 DAL, but not in the 1944. Of course he died before the 1944 printing. So if he was promoted, it would have been within that year. I have some award documents for another RSD officer (Heinecke) and I could not find his promotion in the RSHA lists, though it was noted in his personnel file. Perhaps RSD promotions were not publicized, though Doldi's RSD connection is listed in the DAL. I would try to locate the Doldi file for verification.
