Hello Max and Michal,
Apparently your opinions re picture no. 12 differ.
Maybe (one of) you could say what's about the back of his/your identification of picture 12 (not) being Künstler?
Thank you and
best wishes,
Bogo

Here is one of the previous discussions http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... r#p1039154
I am not convinced this is Künstler. I think Mike was a little too quick to say it's the same man as on the steps with Himmler. I can't see his face that well, so I'm sceptical. In another thread (which unfortunately I cannot find) he was identified not as Künstler, but the admin. officer for the camp. I don't have any photos of Künstler, so I cannot say for definite and AHF has been criticised in the past for identifications being a little too fast and accepted easily. If someone has a better likeness to compare I might be more convinced. Until then, as far as I'm concerned, his ID is not confirmed.
Max.

And one with Künstler. It seems to be the same person. What do you think Max?

That second one provides a much better comparison. Yes, if the SS-Stubaf. with Himmler is known to be Künstler, I agree the portrait is the same man and must therefore be Künstler. Thank you Michal.

Well Max, Michal, this proves again that "together you are strong"
As Himmler visited Flossenburg only once (06.04.40), Michal's 2 pictures with Himmler visiting Flossenburg must have been taken 06.04.40.
As at that time Künstler was Lagerkommandant of Flossenburg and the only officer with the rank of SS-Sturmbannführer there, the ss-Stubaf. with Himmler must be Künstler.
Given the resemblance, I now also agree that the ss-Stubaf. of picture nr. 12 is Künstler.
Thank you both and
best wishes,
Bogo

Old thread, but the photo of SS-Ustuf.005 is SS-Ustuf. Ring in the doc, its remarked that Ring can be spelled wrong ad can be Otto Rink. I attach a list of the names on all of the photos. Unfortunately is the photo of SS-Ostuf. Baumgartner missing in this batch. It was attached in the original batch of photos. On the list is also Karl Künstler removed.

Hello

Picture which I can identify is:
SS-Oschaf-003 is SS-Oscha. Fritz Steudel
SS-Uschaf-004 is SS-Uscha. Fritz Schlundermann with wife
SS-Hschaf-006 is according to the list SS-Hstuf. Willi von Richter.
SS-Uschaf-007 is SS-Uscha. Piepenstock
SS-Oschaf-008 is SS-Stuscha. Papertz
SS-Uschaf.009 is SS-Scha. Overdeck
SS-Scharf-010 is SS-Uscha. Mohr (I don´t know why he is listed as SS-Uscha. when he is a SS-Scharführer)
SS-Uschaf-013 is SS-Uscha. Michels.

This is what I have managed to identify

Bst regards
Georg

Ps. Source of the list etc is the Staatsarchive Nürnberg Ds
