Born 12.11.1914 in Smiltene.
Waffen-Untersturmführer der SS in 1.Kompanie / Nachrichten-Abteilung 15 / 15.Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS (lettische Nr. 1) as of April 1944.

Klavins, Janis
Born 15.03.1919 in Abrens.
Waffen-Untersturmführer der SS with 15.Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS (lettische Nr. 1) [specific unit assignment not given] as of June 1944.

Klavins, Juris
Born 05.03.1917.
Waffen-Untersturmführer der SS in 1.Kompanie / Pionier-Bataillon 15 / 15.Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS (lettische Nr. 1) as of June 1944.

Ivanovs - No officer by that name listed.

Hi Mike!

I have very little info on Ivanovs. All I know is that he commanded the "Ivanovs" Battalion which was part of Kampfgruppe Rusmanis (formerly the 2. Waffen-SS Gren. Reg. commanded by ostubaf. Nikolajs Rusmanis). They were part of the 19. Division.

Here are pics of Lediņš and Ivanovs in Latvian Army uniform. Sources: "Latvijas Armijas Augstākie Virsnieki 1918 - 1940" & "Par zemi, ko mīlam - Latviešu dzelzskrustnieki".

Best regards,

VJK

Hello VJK,

Nothing to worry about, this is again some extra info and the pictures are great, thanks.
And now I also know these two gents served in the Latvian Army, that's also valuable info.

Greetings,
Mike

Before it he was commander latvian strafbataillon. This Btl. was formed from latvian deserteurs. In one soviet document Ivanov rang - general.

You list Klavins, Juris born March 5 1917. Unless there were 2 of them, this is my father. I don't understand the german part of the description about him. Can you help me with any/more information?

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum. :welcome: The German description translation re Juris Klavins is as follows:

SS Second Lieutenant in the 1st Company / 15. Pioneer Battalion / 15. SS Grenadier Division (Latvian Nr. 1)

My late father also served in the 15. Pioneer Battalion. I am away from my sources at the moment, but I will be home on 20 December, when I'll see if there is any more info available about your father.

Best regards,

VJK
