I didn't realize about the stormtroopers, but I think Han Solo's blaster was a broomhandle mauser, wasn't it?

Dear n2t,
Very good indeed. Here's another one, who uses SMLE's chopped down with a large flash hider.

(wonders idly whether to admit not having the first clue what an SMLE is, or just google it)

Dear n2t,
Your screen name is really true. Short Magazine Lee Enfield, the rifle of the British Empire from 1902 onwards.

Dear D2,
You win the chocolate nut roll. Here's another one: What is used as a squad support weapon in A New Hope by the storm troopers?

Dear D2,
Watch the scene as they are leaving the docking bay on the way to Alderan. You will something that is most definitely not German or WW 2.

Dear D2,
Actually it has always been in there. The futuristic weapon in question is an Infantry pattern Lewis Gun with the telltale magazine removed. I don't believe the tripod mounted weapon in The Empire Strikes Back is the same one. That may actually have been made as a prop and not just an old gun no one will recognize.

Dear D2,
It's fun to see when "new fiction" tries to claim WW 2 hasn't influenced their writing. J.K. Rowling insists that WW 2 didn't influence the Harry Potter books. Really? The Muggle Born Registration Commission and the Pure Blood mania of Voldemort would suggest otherwise. Come on, I want to get her on a polygraph and ask her about what history she read prior to writing. Heck, even the way the Weasley twins turn into the Korda brothers as mentioned in a Man Called Intrepid shows some influence.
