[Split from "Little known facts..."]

right, gewehrdork, you made the picture more coloured
The fact, except the joke probably, :D is real.
By the way, the first allied pilot to fly a Me 262 is a romanian.
Right after the war, the allieds colected on an airway more types of german captured aircraft, in order to make flight demonstrations. No pilot was found to fly the Me 262, and the idea that a german POW to fly it was consideered as an insult for the winners. In vicinity there was a romanian squadron which was equipped with Me 109G`s, so they were aquianted with german cockpits. One pilot was called and he made a flight.

The story of Teodor Greceanu is just fantasy. It wasn't confirmed by any of the other Romanian pilots there, like of. ec. cl. III Ion Milu.

Slit from the old mixed bag thread ""Little known facts about equipment..." in the equipment section and moved to this section.

An Interview with Tudor Greceanu was published in 2010, in Romanian, where Mr. Greceanu is explaining how come he become pilot on Me 262.
Due to the fact that the Test Pilots of Me 262 were sent on Eastern Front with others Me 262, when the Americans have captured first Me 262, in 1945, at Wiener Neustadt , they asked to Slt. Dickfeld, test pilot at Messerschmitt at that time, to make an show-off with the Plane. As POW he has no right to were uniforme or insignia of german pilot. Instead, Dickfeld explained to Cpt. Greceanu briefly how it works, so the americans allowed Greceanu to fly the Me 262 and to make the show-off.

from what I see here, Romania might have flown their own variant of a Me 262 during the war

As Victor mentioned above, the story told by Mr. Greceanu well after the war's end is not true.
There were no witnesses, and his purported flight is not recorded in his log book.

That seems well off. Wiener Neustadt was captured by Soviets on April 2nd.
