Basic italian para outfit

Postby Sommarkatze on 29 Jun 2012 02:21

Hi guys. I have been in thoughs of making an italian paratrooper impression about 1944, on the RSI side.
However italian reproduction uniforms are really hard to find. I am having troubles finding info about their insignia too.

So I ask you if you know first, where to get it from? I know of 2 italian sites but one of them had horrible structure and
made the site look kinda unserious. I would prefer to get it like buying a regular jacket from the internet or such, no need for top quality and personal fitted. The cheapest way possible!

And second, anybody got info on the insigna at a simple italian para private? Pictures would be lovely :D

Thanks!

For detailed pictures of orignal items, see Paolo's threads at Wehrmacht Awards Forum . There are several good paracadutisti threads pinned at the top.

Finding a decent reproduction uniform is hit or miss. The only good source is Sartoria Equipe . However they are tailor made and therefore pricey (but excellent quality and correct).

Trolling Ebay is your best bet. The older Chen uniforms were pretty good (good enough for reenacting), but they don't show up for sale that often. None of the new stuff coming out of China is any good. The main problem is the wool color. Sartoria Equipe is the only current source with the correct wool.

If you haven't joined, Comando Supremo has a reenacting section. There are several members who reenact paracadutisti.

Please note that there are several different RSI paracadutisti units, each with slightly different insignia. You need to do a bit of research and decide which one you want to do.

If you have any questions, please ask.

Thanks so much! I will check it out!
Where there any RSI para units outside Italy? I read somewhere about a group operating on the easternfront?

See Sahariana unit(s) in RSI at Comando Supremo. It was a small reece unit of the X Arditi. The post provides some details.

If you are truly intersted in the para impression, some Italian reenactors are putting together a group order for Italian para smocks.

Neil has also posted details on coverting the M42/60 para helemt to an 2GM version.
