OF COURSE THEY CAN, JUGEND ! THE ALLIES ARE ANIMALS. WE MUST NOT GIVE THEM THE SATISFACTION OF FINDING A POSITION DUE TO CIGARETTE SMOKE OR EVEN TALKING AS IT TRAVELS THRU THE WOODS FOR A HUNDRED METERS ! SMALL THINGS LIKE THAT MATTER IN VICTORY.

Ha. Dogs they may be. Tolland was a good time. I wish we could fight more Commonwealth, they are really among the best reenactors in reenacting.

TO DO THAT, YOUNG ONE, YOU MUST MAKE THE TREK TO MARKUSLAND WHERE ALL THE SAUCER HEADS DWELL ! I GO UP FOR 4 EVENTS THAT THEY HOLD, AND IT'S REALLY GREAT TO DO BATTLE AGAINST THE PERTH REGIMENT. MIND YOU, IT'S ONLY A THREE HOUR DRIVE NORTH FOR ME. I REALLY ENJOY IT AND EVERYONE HAS A GREAT TIME. I SMUGGLE HOSTESS PIES FOR THEM CAUSE THEY CAN'T GET THEM UP IN CANUCKLAND. AXIS FORCES ARE HEER, FALSCHIRMS AND SS. ALLIES ARE PERTHS AND 1st SPECIAL SERVICE FORCES. SOME TIMES WE CAMP OUT FOR THREE DAYS AND DO BATTLE SCHOOL TO TEACH EACH OTHER HOW TO ATTACK AND DEFEND POSITIONS. GREAT LEARNING AND GREAT FUN ALL ROUND.

The Perth Regiment? Isn't that Gavin Watt's personal army? I heard you have to be UEL to join.

The Perth Regiment is definitely one of our OpFors that we work closely together with, in the Kampfgruppe, they work very dilligently to preserve and maintain Canadian Military history, Gavin Watt included.

Agreed, the Kampfgruppe holds 4 events a year, along with a variety of public displays as well, this spring we worked hand in hand with the Allies all day in our 'Kampfschule' to work cooperatively with our 'OpFor' in strengthening period tactics, fieldcraft, and ultimately, close ties with the Allies, which is to our great benefit.

Definiton of 'UEL'?

THE AWFUL EGG wrote:"YET A 200 LITRE POT SHOULD FEED TWICE AS MANY SOLDATEN AS STATED IN THEIR BIO. I'M SURE THEY WOULD ONLY RECEIVE .5 LITRE OF SOUP PER MANN WITH A PORTION OF BREAD IF AVAILABLE. ANYONE KNOW THE REGULATION FIELD PORTIONS PER MANN ? AS FOOD WAS SCARCE MOST OF THE TIME I'M SURE THEY GOT THE MINIMUM RATIONS.
From the 1941 Field Cookbook:

"From the large Field Kitchen with 175 liter food kettle capacity, 125 to 225 men, and from the smaller Field Kitchen with 110 liter food kettle capacity, 60 to 125 men are able to be fed.
During fuller feeding needs can therefore at the most a ¾ liter meal be prepared for each person. This amount must present a healthy and filling food. It may not be too watery, rather shall contain more solid parts with nutrients than water, which without doubt, will entirely fill the stomach."

MANY THANX, JBAUM...I FIGURED YOU COULD FEED MORE ON THAT BIG POT. I'LL BET THE MIX GOT THINNER AND THINNER BY WARS END TO THE POINT OF A SOUPY LIQUID WITH NO SUBSTANCE ! BREAD BECAME UNDIGESTIBLE AS WELL WITH NO NUTRIENTS. THE '41 FELDCOCHBUCH WAS PROBABLY WRITTEN AND ASSEMBLED IN '39-'40 AS THE REIBERT MANUALS WERE WITH OLDER INFO.

I'm just about done with another field cookbook: "Field Cookbook for Makeshift Cooking and Baking in the Colonies" from 1941. It's only 24 pages, but it still has things the other two I've translated don't have.

One of these summers I'm going to buy a beat up mess tin and try baking bread in it.

Hi all re-enactors,

I asked this in another section of the forum and still need a little more information. How much fuel (wood/charcoal) do you use in your field kitchens?
Any information is appreciated.
Thanks,
Rand
