Where can I buy these apparel?

#1

Post by jason Macfergus » 04 Apr 2016, 13:39

I was wondering where I can get some german ww2 apparel. I'm looking for an M32 black ss general greatcoat, the reichsfuhrer collar tab. the ss oberst-gruppenfuhrer collar tab, the ss gruppen fuhrer collar tab and the reichsfuhrer-ss shoulderboard. any recommendations for affordable and great quality online stores? (quality is more important to me, but I prefer keeping my spending low).
Thanks

I do not believe that the black SS uniforms were worn during the war, so they are not WWII apparel. And the SS-Oberstgruppenführer rank only existed between 1942 to 1945, long after the black uniforms had been discontinued, so it would not have been worn on a black uniform if that is your plan. But unless somebody is very knowledgeable they are probably not going to notice these (and other) differences. Does it need to be completely 100% authentic looking? Or is this just for fun, so to say? :milwink:

I do not have any experience with these sources but maybe they will work for you... ?

This Ebay seller is located in Singapore and has some of the insignia you are looking for:

The best and most expensive reproductions sold as such that I have seen came out of Europe. The cheapest generally come from China.

Greatcoats:

More separate insignia:

Well, the collar tabs are just for display and as for the cost-quality thing, is prefer one that's more on the quality side(preferably not from china). But I'll check out the links you recommended. Thanks!

Oh yeah, and I also would rather it to be as authentic as possible

You generally cannot have it both ways. You get what you pay for. Keeping your spending low = less authentic appearing.

The best repro uniforms I have seen were produced by Michael Janke in Germany. Very expensive and all custom made. Bill Bureau (located in the US) is one of Janke's dealers. You can try contacting Bill about the greatcoat and insignia, if he cannot help you he will know who can:

Another Janke dealer is Extra Klasse run by James Brown in the UK, you could also try contacting him:

There is also The Marshal's Baton:

Navigate to "Militaria For Sale" then click "Replica/Reproduction WWII Militaria." There is a link to "Insignia" that will take you to that section. It cannot be directly linked to here or I would have done so.

well, I'm willing to shell out say around USD100-400 maybe, depending on quality. I don't really want to go all out for the stuff but I want to get the biggest bang for my buck, mainly because i'm not really that rich  . As long as the product can hold up during use fairly well, I'm good. I'm considering the greatcoat from the hessen antique store, but any idea if its good?

Does anyone else here have any experience with Hessen Antique? I don't and neither do some friends I know that reenact. I think that Hessen is popular though. If nobody else answers about Hessen, try searching the forum and Google for customer feedback on them.

Something like a repro M32 SS black greatcoat may be more of a challenge to locate, as the (not black) uniforms and insignias worn by the Waffen-SS are more popular sellers. Hope things work out for you. The displays you have in mind can look quite striking!

Thanks, I'll go look around and see if Hessen's products are as good as they look
