War Reinacting

Postby Helmut Wick on 05 Jul 2002 23:14

I cant figure out how the reinactors get the Kar98 to work(its not quite as good with the real bullets). D they use Duds or training rounds?
And is the weapons Original?
Cause its not allowed to make the Rifles and MP38 with the Reich eagle, is it?

I don't see what would be the problem with making an accurate reproduction. I don't know if the design of the weapon is copyrighted, but I doubt it. Therefore, the only illegal thing would be to sell it as an original (if you buy one as an original, and you are in good faith, legally the dealer must give you a real one in exchange for the repro).
Of course, if symbols are represented that are illegal to reproduce in certain countries, the weapons can't be sold here...

It is possible at least some of them are originals. After all, the weapons are quite robust (they'd have to be ;)). Compared to some of the groups buying original German tank the prices aren't really that high either...

Helmut!

How do you think Norway`s population would react if people started re-enacting in our wood`s?
I guess it would make a nice first page on VG........
"Nazi-lek i Nordmarka" :)

Same case with Denmark, I think. But it would also be hard to gather enough people to make it work. Maybe a combined Scandinavian 'Wiking' effort?

The only reenactment I can think of is "Slaget ved Stiklestad" :D

I think ww2 and Nazi`s are still to well remembered by the older generations....... Maybe there are some "secret" groups?

Reenacting

Postby Langemann on 09 Jul 2002 05:10

Kar 98s, G43s. MP40s, StG44s, MG34s, and MG42s all can run on blanks if adapted properly. Kar 98ss and G43sneed no adopting, while the rest need either new gas tubes or a muzzle nut to increase the blowback pressure.

Here in the United States you can find many reenacting groups where all of these weapons are common. For the most part all shoot crimped 8mm, 8mm short, or 9mm parabellum blanks. They sound, for the most part, like a real gun. Perhaps a tad weaker though.

Here's a link to my reenactment units website: http://www.25panzergrendiv.com/

The G43 does need blank-adapting. Any weapon that fires semi-automatically needs blank-adapting.
