Hi my name is Dave
And this is our site.

GD Recon portray as accurately as possible rifle men of an armored reconnaissance unit within the elite ‘Grossdeutschland’ Division that mainly saw active service on the Russian front during World War II.

Our members have many reasons for joining the group. Some have a keen historical interest in WWII, some have interest in the weapons and tactics used, others join for the ‘Kameradschaft’, but the main aim is to share knowledge and research about the conflict and the soldiers that fought in it. We also attempt to set high standards in all areas our portrayal - from uniforms and equipment to our living history displays and battle reenactments.

Now entering it’s fifth year of existence, the group can trace it origins back to the year 2000 when it’s members decided to portray soldiers of the Infantry Regiment Grossdeutschland. Unhappy with the direction of this group, some then went onto to form the group we now portray in 2005.

2010 will see the group become motorised and be our second season as members of the WW2 LHA allowing us access to some of the most exciting and respected shows in the UK such as the Bovington ‘Tank Fest’, the English Heritage ‘Festival of History’ and the Victory Show. We are also co-founders of the new ‘Ostfront Association’ which has been set up to represent the events of the Russian Front.

As you will see from the pictures on our site we attend many varied events throughout the season, from tactical weekends, to public displays and have also taken part in TV & filmwork as extras - the most recent being a series aired in Autumn 2008 on Channel 5.

We are always on the lookout for motivated recruits with historical knowledge and a genuine interest in WWII and especially ‘Grossdeutschland’, so if you have any questions or are interested in joining a rapidly growing group with an equally rapidly growing and varied events calendar, come along to one of our shows and see us for a chat.

If you can't wait for that, why not get in touch or browse our forum, either way we look forward to hearing from you!
