I walked DOWN the mountain from the Kehlsteinhaus to the Berghof carpark, partly for the sake of the views and partly because I couldn't face that bus again. It was late June but still very cold and with snow on the ground. Here I am looking back up the mountain.

Here's a little trail map for all you lucky guys (and gals) who actually get to go to the Obersalzberg - I assume most of these hiking trails are still there.

I was a bit bored and looked at Geoff's site and saw this picture. I knew there was a guard house but in this picture you also see to the left of the guard house a small house. What's this for building. Is it a sort of wooden house for the guard people to rest if they're not on guard.

I think, that we have already discussed about that house in this thread, it was "Schumacherei" ,but the purpose during NS period isn`t known to me. Actually a few maps of the OSB area claims that this house was demolished in 1933.
