Re: Reichskanzlei Thread
Thank you very much. I always assumed that the room had a purely symbolic use, and non functional.
Apart from this, does anyone have any information on the plaques that decorated the inside of Hitler's office ? Who designed them? What do they represent or symbolize? They look like a medieval or renaissance allegory (Albrecht Dürer's style), but they could be, too, a modern design of one of Hitler's sculptors (Wamper, Breker, Thorak, Meller, Albiker, Wackerle...)...

Halfdan S,
That's a nice painting, with good colors.
Here's something kind of related, just encountered on Ebay. A celebration book of the Chancellery opening. Apparently its celebrations were pitched even to youths.

Re: Reichskanzlei Thread
On Sunday I visited Voss-strasse after an absence of two years. The retail and residential development on the south side of the street and on the old Kaufhaus Wertheim site facing Leipziger Platz is now complete. But the north side of the street, on the actual site of the NRK, is as scruffy and undeveloped as it was when I first saw it ten years ago. There is still a large vacant block, used as a carpark and overgrown with weeds around the edges, halfway down the street. Interestingly, however, the overgrown area was not fenced off as it has been on previous visits, so I was able to wander around and pick up bits of brick and tile that might (or might not) come from the NRK, although it might just be junk from other building sites in the street. There has been, after all, nothing else built on this particular spot since the NRK was destroyed. In particular, I picked up one chunk that might (or might not) be a piece of the famous red marble from the NRK, now to be seen at the Soviet war memorial in Treptower Park. I will get it tested when I get home and see if it really is marble.

The Bunker Museum in the Anhalter Bahnhof bunker has opened a display replica of Hitler's room in the Führerbunker, as of 30 April 1945.

Re: Reichskanzlei Thread
There is a recent german documentary 'Böse Bauten- Hitlers Architektur in Berlin' also on Youtube in which they test the marble from the Station and the Reichskanzlei and it doesnt match so the marble was quarried just for the station

Re: Reichskanzlei Thread
I have been following this thread for some time now, and I have been researching the chancellery for a good part of a year. Hopefully some of the pictures I have collected will revive this thread. Some might have watermarks, but are too good not to be shared.

Re: Reichskanzlei Thread
These are some high quality photos of the Chancellery, showing great detail, better than any photos I have ever seen. Since this forum compresses these beautiful photos, they are not at full quality. If you want to see them in their full glory, they can be downloaded through the link that I provided.

I'm with ghostsoldier! Let's reanimate this thread.

In that case, I have some more!
These plans have been mentioned previously in this thread, but I downloaded them at a very high quality, which required me to sign up, etc. These were the only plans available.

Re: Reichskanzlei Thread
Here is some more, one of the drawings is of the old chancellery before the 1930 extension, with the Borsig Palace visible on the left. There were some variants to the office portal drawings, as there were a few, but the one provided is the best. Since they were too large for this site, I uploaded them somewhere else. If you want to see them in full quality, right click on them, and click to open the image in a new tab.
Re: Reichskanzlei Thread
Great architectural renderings! Does this mean that there was no circular driveway up to the front of the Old Reichschancellery? Was the Seidler Office Extension set back to meet the front of the main building of the Old Chancellery?
Many thanks,
Br. James
