Rolls off the tongue, doesn't it.

Wir wollen Glaubensträger sein in Not und Sturmgewittern."
Powerful.

Languages are a funny thing. Each one (incl. dialects) is unique with their own subtleties, nuances and quirks. Because many of these can and do easily evaporate in translation, the charm and elegance behind their meanings are lost to the casual observer. This can especially be felt in things like literature (stories, drama, poetry and yes, slogans.).

I have never seen these before and thanks for that.

Sorry do not speak german much and connot spell but these two my brandfather used to say after the 1968 russian occupation
I don't know this sentence, but probably your grandfather said something like:

"Nächste Weihnachten in Moskau und auf den Sieg unserer Waffen an der Ostfront." If it was like this, it was probably a toast amongst german soldiers or officers, before they were having their beer.

(Next Christmas in Moscow, to the victory of our weapons at the Eastern front!)

This has not much to do with the topic but anyway:

Back in 1983 when the US began deploying Pershing nuclear cruise missiles in West Germany there was a popular (and secretly spred) slogan in Hungary: "Inkább egy Pershing a tanyámon/Mint öt orosz az anyámon!", roughly translated as 'Better to have a Pershing hit my farm than to have 5 Russians mount my mother!" (note that Hungary was under Soviet occupation at that time)

English: "One People! One State! One Leader!"

hey Reich Ruin, that slogan has been mentioned already I think. Maybe there were other popular slogans from German war songs like Wenn wir fahren gegen Engeland or Von Finnland bis zum Schwarzen Meer

"Blood and Honour"

For some reason, it can be an inspiring motto when need of motivation.

Berlin bleibt deutsch - Berlin remains German

Whoever fights can die. Whoever betrays his fatherland must die! We had to die! - hung around the neck of hung Germans (desterters, cilivans etc etc)

Sorry Helmut about the "Ein Führer..." quote! :x

Funny you mention this one Jose. Blut und Ehre as well as Blut und Boden or "Blood and Soil" was used and is still used as slogans for National Socialism.
