One mans taste is anothers distaste...perhaps he would have liked to own because of its
value?
egregious German bourgeois bad taste perhaps
Strange, I always thought bad taste was universal? Australia not guilty of this at any time period?

As an example of egregious German bourgeois bad taste perhaps...
You use every chance you get to say that we are wrong and you are right, I can understand this, it makes life more easier I bet.

I also like this design of this furniture (and of course I would like a lamp like this on my desk also) and I can not understand the people who see the badest things in such non-historical things like a lamp...that is a first sign that someone got his knowledge from the newspapers or tv.
Like it or don´t like it, I like it and that´s my opinion.

sounds interesting, is there a german version of the text?
Or can someone tell me the short version? :D

I decided to re-start collecting, but even without collecting it´s a fascinating topic.
To all: Do you collect or just read books etc.? Would be great to know.
Before I was married, I was a collector, but after marriage then becoming disabled, the disposable income just isn't there anymore.

An insult post from Reichkameramann was removed.

Drop the discussion about taste and get back on topic, thanks.

That's a beautiful photo, JR...seeing the RC in color really makes it "real", at least to me....

You can do like I do, Justin....I collect "virtually", i.e., photographs, videos and online materials; except for hardback reference books and magazines, that's about the only way I collect! :D

I know what you mean. I love the color shots. They're so well done and the quality is timeless. Perfection in every way.

Everytime I find a copy of Prof Speer's book on the NRK, I'm always outbid! Being on a fixed income stinks 8O

Everytime I find a copy of Prof Speer's book on the NRK, I'm always outbid!
Curious, just how much do these books of Speer generally go for?

Have you tried ebay.de I find sometimes things go for more reasonable prices?

I hadn't thought of ebay.de. but will certainly look there in the future. I've seen 3rd editions going for as high as $600! And that's way too much. The 3rd editions were printed on cheaper paper stock, due to the war.

Thanks for the idea!

Maybe slightly of topic, but the Bundesarchiv have issued a number of very interesting images, including the attached B/W image of the Neue reichskanzlei taken at night, I have colourized it to get a better feel for what it may have looked like.

Very beautiful & striking photo. I hadn't realized there were night shots existing of the NRK. Your color work appears completely natural. Excellent work, and thanks for sharing.
