McClatchie's Look to Germany

#1

Post by Aegwyrt » 08 Jan 2008, 20:43

I am in the process of scanning my original copy of Look to Germany: the Heart of Europe by Stanley McClatchie (i.e. not USM's reprint). I am going to turn it into a .pdf and I was wondering if there was a site to which I could upload the file so that people could download it for free. Is this possible?

The scanning is now complete. The file is 827.8 MB. Does anybody know if there is somewhere I can upload this?

There are 254 plates with the front and back cover. Page 1 in the book is not included because it is completely blank. None of the blank pages at the front or back of the book are included because they are not useful or interesting except perhaps to someone interested in Third Reich bookbinding conventions.

What shall the people do with it? Print posters???

254 pages should be no more than 200MB.
The usual places where such files are placed are emule, bit-torrent and usenet...

I just thought that people might like to read it. It is interesting because it is in English and because it is a document of history. I would want upload this pdf because I hope other people would make their original publications available digitally. That way you don't have to spend $200-$500 on an original or $30 for a repro. When I get my copy of Schlageter by Hanns Johst I am going to type out the whole thing and place it on the net for this same reason.

Copies of that book are actually sold as a handsome, coffee-table size reprint. I bought one several years ago.
Amazon sells it on it's marketplace: http://www.amazon.com/Look-Germany-Euro ... 079&sr=1-1
$30.00. large format, glossy paperback. cover photos differ but text and photos within the same as the original.

The book seems to have been written by an admirer of the Third Reich. A few photos mock the anti-propagandists'
reports of medieval barbarism.

Hi! Searching for this book brings up this old post. Whatever happened to the scan you made? Is there a way to get a copy?
