Have you been to Goebbels Bogensee Villa?

#1

Post by rosstcorbett » 26 May 2013, 18:46

Hi everybody,

One of the places right at the top of my travel list is Goebbels Bogensee villa near Berlin.

I was wondering if anybody here has been to it and if there are any who has actually been inside?

If so I would love for you to post some pictures on here as it would very interesting to see.

Thanks,

Ross

Hi The last I heard it was being used as a police station, perhaps I'm wrong and others can correct me.

Doesn't appear to be very well kept up. When were the photos taken?

Is this the residence Goebbels refers to in his Diaries as "Lanke"? I'm not certain but I think Goebbels had more than one lakeside residence?

"I must get to Lanke for some rest and relaxation. These sleepless nights and agonising worries are disturbing the old ailment". Goebbel's Diary, 1942-1943, refers both to "Lanke" and his crippled foot.

"Lanke" is the residence he refers to most in his diaries.

That's the villa I was thinking of and recognise certain features. I remember a documentary on the BBC a few years back where they visited this particular site, the large windows where someone is peering through were mechanical and descended into an underground void, the commentator tried them and they still worked! maybe this a different villa to that originally posted

Goebbels also had "Schwanenwerder" which was also near a lake. This is the villa that shows the children singing on the hill and Rommel pulling up in front in his car...this was bombed and later torn down. Below is a video fo the house as it looked in 1947.

Hi, very interesting video clip, it's obviously not the same place as the original posting. Your video clip just re-enforces the total corruption of a very small minority of self seeking Nazi Ideologies who took the country for a ride to destruction and lived of their backs. Sorry if that sounds political,

Hi everybody,

Yes this is the Villa I was talking about. It was a 'gift' from the city of Berlin to Goebbels.

From what I understand it is in very good condition on the inside with the electric windows still in working order etc.

I hope to visit sometime later this year as I think time is running out for this place.

I spoke to the agents who are trying to sell it and I get the impression that if no 'suitable' buyer is found then it will be knocked down.

Hi,

I have been there 3 or 4 times. The house is in great condition. Here is a link to some of my pictures from my visits.

Hi Jon, excellent photo's. This is the villa I mentioned earlier with the mobile windows which descended underground. I am surprised as to the state of the place, it has obviously been well looked after internally at least, My recollection was that it was a Police station, perhaps I'm wrong, it is however obviously owned by someone to keep it in such good condition, any ideas?? regards Alex PS what's the asking price

Hi Sobel,

I think the firestation(firefighter school) near by maybe maintain the house but I'm not sure. I highly doubt they will tear it down, I think its owned by the state.

I'm sure that if it was on the open market, it would make a nice holiday home :)

Hi Jon,

Great photos. I see you were able to access the inside. How did you do this?

Hi,

No I was actually never inside the house, I just took some photos through the windows like everybody else, but I assured that there was no reflecting from the glass into the camera objective.

Best regards,
Jon
