I don't know the precise dates of all of these images, but they are all early 20th century and during the time of German rule.

THE CHILDREN OF BRESLAU

"They sacrificed their life for their city they did not defend up to end war 1945 against a tenfold supremacy.
They were 12-16 years old. They fought and did not for Hitler or "Nazi". They fought and did for their family and your
hometown, sice over 500 years capital of the German Schlesien. They are forgotten. Without grave, stone or board.
Only this painting reminds of the children of Breslau."

This picture depicts children of the city of Breslau desperately defending against a twenty-fold Soviet superiority. They never gave up. They never surrendered. The defense of Breslau ceased ONLY after the war had been officially declared over. The unequalled heroism of these children as they were defending their home and hearth, their mothers and sisters, has been practically forgotten

Painted by the contemporary German artist Herbert Smagon

Old postcards of the Upper Silesian village of Biestrzynnik (Biestrzinnik/Ringwalde). The village my ancestor Johann Warzecha was born in 1826, he came to Texas in 1855.

The German War Memorial in the Upper Silesian village of Biestrzynnik (Biestrzinnik/Ringwalde). Josef Warzecha, Paul Mehlan, and August Mehlan, were distant relatives of mine. They died fighting for the Third Reich during World War 2.

Old postcard of the Upper Silesian village of Pluznica Wielka, known as Gross Pluschnitz, during Prussian and Imperial German times. The name of the village was changed to Marklinden, during the Third Reich.

The Warzecha Muhle (Warzecha Mill) was originally located in the Upper Silesian village of Stare Siolkowice, which was named Alt Schalkowitz in Prussian and Imperial German times, the village was renamed Alt Schalkendorf during the Third Reich. The Warzecha Mill was relocated to the Opole/Oppeln suburb of Bierkowice, to the open air museum of rural architecture from the Opole region.

Judging by the website, it seems the people in Stare Siołkowice are still proud of that watermill despite the fact it was taken away.
Interestingly, the village is 800 years old, and even managed to establish a colony in Brazil.
