Hello,

it's the war memorial in Landau (Palatinate), a work of sculpterer Bernhard Bleeker and was unveiled in Aug. 1936. It's generally known to the public as 'Landauer Löwe' (Lion of Landau). Landau's coat of arms shows a black lion and Palatiante belonged to Bavaria from 1815 until 1945, Bavaria also has a lion in its state symbols.
