Looking for books (fiction) written during Nazi era.

Post by Ukrainerin » 09 Jun 2014, 19:35

HI! Im interested in reading some books (either pro-nazi/propaganda or neutral) that were written under the Nazi regime.
Novels, short stories about love, adventure, crime, war etc.
I'm just interested to see how everyday life was portrayed in the German literature of the time.
Preferably in English but if no translations exist German will do too.
And of course it would be great if they are not completely dull. :D
Thanks everybody!

Try Hans Fallada. Neither "pro-nazi/propaganda" nor "neutral", but several books available in English; and he never left Germany.

List of "pro-nazi/propaganda" authors is long, but books mostly in German and might be hard to get.
Try these "nazi-preferred" names:
Anacker Heinrich
Bade Wilfried
Bartels Adolf
Baumann Hans
Beumelburg Werner
Blunck Hans Friedrich
Bohme Herbert
Brehm Bruno
Buschbecker Karl Matthias
Dinter Artur
Dobiasch Sepp
Dwinger Edwin Erich
Eckart Dietrich
Eckmann Heirich
Eggers Kurt
Ettighoffer Paul Coelestin
Euringer Richard
Ewers Hanns Heinz
Goote Thor
Grimm Hans
Haas Rudolf
Helke Fritz
Herzog Rudolf
Holzapfel Carl Maria
Jelusich Mirko
Johst Hanns
Keargel Hans Christoph
Kolbenheyer Erwin Guido
Koll Killian
Kremer Hannes
Linke Johannes
Menzel Herybert
Miegel Agnes
Möller Eberhard Wolfgang
Pleyer Wilhelm
Rothacker Gottfried
Salomon Ernst von
Schauwecker Franz
Schenziger Karl Aloys
Schmückle Georg
Schumann Gerhard
Seldte Franz
Steguweit Heinz
Strauß Emil
Tremel-Eggert Kuni
Vesper Will
Weller Tüdel
Ziesel Kurt
Zöberlein Hans

In 1941 one of the daily newspapers published H.G.Hansen's crime novel - Explosion in Raum 5.
Couldn't find anything about it, not sure exactly when it was written.

Also in 1941 (after Barbarossa started) Marianne Westerlind's "Schicksal im Osten" appears.
Introduction note states: "...das Schicksal einer baltendeutschen Familie erleben lässt..."
This one for a change shows up in Google books as being published by Sauerberg in 1937.

Wilhelm Utermann wrote several books. His "Verkannte bekannte, ein heiterer roman" was published in 1941 by Franz Eher Nachfolger GmbH.
